Something I don’t like about Bioware games (and media in general) is the idea that reconciliation and forgiveness are always worth it.

Pushing Dorian back together with his family is evidently the “right choice” because it turns out well and Dorian ends up saying it went better than expected.

But seriously, his dad was going to use blood magic to turn him straight. That is some fucked up abusive shit. And now he wants forgiveness, but he’s still toxic. His plan was to trick Dorian into meeting with him.

Uh, no.

The meta-gamer in me wants things to work out as well as possible for Dorian so I’m tempted by the “don’t leave it like this” dialogue option, but UGH. I really think that “let’s get you out of here” is actually much better.

And don’t get me started on pushing him to talk to his parents when you don’t know the situation. I just told him about the letter and he decided on his own that he wanted to deal with it.
