does anybody else play murder in the dark or is that just an Aussie thing
…Wtf that sounds so sinister.
allow me to explain the best game I’ve ever been involved in. so basically you get a bunch of friends and find a nice, preferably big (but it doesn’t have to be) room. you turn all the lights off or close the curtains and make the room as dark as possible. THEN you pick one person to be the murderer. they spin in a circle for 10 seconds with a blind fold on and then try to search for everyone else. depending on how you play, the first or last person caught gets to be the murderer for the next round. and that’s pretty much it!
in Italy we call it Midnight’s Witch (Strega di Mezzanotte) and kids love playing it.
We play Murder In The Dark in the Midwest USA, but the rules are a bit different. In our version, you turn off the lights in the entire house except for one room. Then everyone takes a piece of paper, which is marked either ‘Villager’ or ‘Murderer’. You keep what’s on yours a secret.
Then everyone splits up and starts going around the house. The murder/s will try to “kill” someone by touching their neck, hopefully without anyone else witnessing it. The person they “kill” cannot move or speak after their neck is touched. When someone else finds them, they shout “Murder in the dark!” and everyone goes to the lit room. (The murderer can move them somewhere to make it harder to find them so they can keep killing) Then everyone holds council and tries to determine the murderer. They vote one person the murder and then they have to sit with the murdered people and wait.
People disperse back into the house and this goes until another murdered person is found. You keep doing this until either the villagers succeed and have voted out all of the murders, or the murders have killed all the villagers. It is so much fun if you have a lot of people and a big house!
My friends… We must play..,
