dorian brushes a lot of things aside, because he has to, but– how terrifying must that letter from his father be. even for a second, where he is, who he’s with, what he’s carved out for himself in the inquisition fades away.

i wonder if when sharing the inquisitor’s bed he ever sleeps uneasy bc of this. like, if the last time he stayed overnight he was abducted and locked up in his own home? so dorian wakes expecting to be back there, to be dragged from his lover’s arms. knowing they’re safe and cursing himself for his foolishness he still rises in the middle of the night to check the locks/wards on the door. 

anyway in case ‘screaming on the inside’ wasn’t reason enough to hate his father friendly reminder dorian is speaking from experience here and halward pavus once had ppl murdered bc his son was sleeping with a man.
